Good  news.

Now that the Liverpool Botanical Trust, custodians of our unique  heritage plant collection, is well established with a Bank account and Trustees, we feel it is time to establish greater links with the local community via a  formal membership.

At the moment we do not  have much to offer members, so this year’s membership, as a benefit,  will cover the cost of attending the  Seminar on March 29th in  Croxteth Hall.

On  March 29th we are holding, with extensive support from LJMU, a Seminar entirely devoted to ‘Zingiberaceae’, aka Gingers.  These are a major part of Liverpool’s heritage plant collection  alongside Orchids and Bromeliads etc. The agenda for the day is close to being finalised.

LJMU is kindly funding the attendance of our external  speakers and providing lunch .

The Event Section of this website is the place to look for the latest information on the programme.

Please  note that your indication of Attendance on your Membership Application Form will confirm a place and  there is no need to go to Eventbrite to book, thus saving you paying their surcharge.

As Croxteth Park is  council property they are responsible for the employees and the care of  the buildings and grounds, but the care of the overall collection is a  shared project with the Trust to ensure its conservation through all the  personnel changes that councils unfortunately have to make. It is a  good working partnership, hopefully supported by more external funding in the future.

The  allocated Heritage Lottery money is currently being used to renovate  the Peach House, as well as link with local schools, and should be  functioning soon under the supervision of the project manager, Claire  Bigley.

Once the Peach House has been  rebuilt we will be able to show off heritage plants that are in  flower, as well as to provide tours of the other plants, amongst other  activities.
